UAE-based Time Hotels has unveiled plans to open five new properties across the Middle East during 2019 – as it targets 35 properties by 2025.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, the emirate’s biggest Sharia-compliant lender, on Monday reported a rise in net profit of 1.7 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019, attributed to higher revenues from investment income and loan growth.

Net income for the three months to the end of March Dh600.3 million, missing the lowest estimate of Dh700.5m of two analysts polled by Bloomberg.

Careem, the Dubai-based ride hailing app, has launched a Roadside Assistance service in Dubai, with plans to roll it out across the UAE later this year.

ABU DHABI, 22nd April, 2019 (WAM) -- The first-ever shipment of UAE-produced calcined coke has begun its maiden voyage to mainland China.

Some 10,500 tons of calcined coke were loaded by ADNOC Refining, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, onto the M/V Lucky Ocho, a vessel chartered by ADNOC Logistics and Services, to be delivered in Yantai, China by the end of April 2019.

The UAE Space Agency and Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) have announced that 85 percent of the Hope Probe project has been completed.

In a joint statement, the two organisations confirmed that most of the main parts of the project have been completed and are currently undergoing testing.

The probe has already entered an intensive testing phase to ensure its readiness before the launch date, with less than 500 days are remaining for the launch, the statement added. It is planned to reach Mars by 2021, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE.
