Du, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), is strengthening the UAE's bilateral relations with Pakistan, as well as the country's presence as a connectivity hub, by enabling a new Orient Express submarine fibre optic cable between Pakistan and the UAE.

The 1,300km cable system will link between landing points in Karachi and Gwadar in Pakistan, and Kalba in the UAE.

The launch of the submarine cable system will help Pakistan's digital penetration, reducing the country's digital divide, and improving education and general awareness. It will also link the developing port city of Gwadar to the UAE and open up a new data highway to China through Pakistan.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, also known as du, announced a 2.5 per cent year-on-year increase in second-quarter profits after royalty payments to Dh464 million. Second-quarter revenue fell, however, by 4.8 per cent year-on-year to Dh3.19 billion.

The result means that for the first half of 2019, the company declared a 5.4 per cent year-on-year decline in net profit of Dh913 million for the first half of 2019, while revenue also fell by 5.3 per cent to Dh6.33bn in the same period.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, the parent company of Dubai-based telco Du, on Tuesday reported a 11.3 percent increase in net profit after royalty to AED913 million ($248.5 million) for the first half of 2019.

ABU DHABI, 23rd July, 2019 (WAM) -- The consolidated net profit of the Etisalat Group amounted to AED4.4 billion during the first half of the year ending 30th June, 2019, representing a 3.1 percent increase year-on-year.

According to financial results, the subscriber base reached 143 million, representing a year-on-year increase of two percent. UAE network operator Etisalat on Monday announced the launch of a new roaming pack for customers travelling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah. The offer provides enhanced data and voice allowances and a 14-day validity that allows them to stay connected with family and friends back home.

From July 21 to August 19, 2019, customers can enjoy 10GB data and 1,000 minutes (to make and receive voice calls) valid for 14 days for only Dh150.
